Open position in nextGEMS

Good news! We have a postdoctoral position open in nextGEMS!

The Portuguese Weather Service (IPMA) in Lisbon is recruiting a PostDoc (f/m/d) in the framework of the H2020 project nextGEMS. Focus of the work is the characterization of the land surface at very high-resolution and its representation in the ECMWF model and on the use of earth observations (particularly land surface temperature) to assess the realism of SR-ESMs (ECMWF & ICON).

Requirements

• A PhD in Geophysical Science, Physics, or related areas prior to the start of the contract,
• Experience in at least one of the following areas
  (i) scientific programing in high-level languages (e.g. Fortran, C, Python);
  (ii) numerical modeling of the earth system in HPC environments;
  (iii) use of climate and earth observations data.
• Candidates with a PhD in a foreign country need a Portuguese Recognition. More information can be obtained in https://www.dges.gov.pt/en/pagina/degree-and-diploma-recognition

The contract is expected to start in September 2022 with a maximum duration of 3 years.
